The Role: Business Risk Partners ‘BRPs’ work in collaboration with the businesses they support and act as first point of contact for a range of non-financial risk and controls matters. This role will be working within the Risk and controls team primarily supporting M&G Asset Management COO functions, but may also entail providing broader support to the M&G Asset Management Chief Controls Officer function. The COO function sits at the heart of M&G Asset Management, playing a critical role in enabling and supporting Front Office activity across the firm. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad and varied exposure across the Asset Management value chain, developing a deep understanding of how the business operates in practice while working closely with stakeholders across investments, distribution and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support identification, on-going maintenance and management of risks and mitigating actions/controls in relation to the M&G Asset Management COO RCSA.
  • Support identification and testing of Key Controls and providing support in relation to other assurance reviews (e.g. led by Audit or Compliance Monitoring and Testing), to ensure risk mitigation and remediation remains robust, pragmatic and proportionate.
  • Support with delivery of annual AAF 01/20 internal controls report, in collaboration with external auditor.
  • Support and monitor risk and control environment, e.g. MI across risk types, KRIs, RAS and Control Environment metric monitoring, ensuring any issues identified are closed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Identify and manage emerging risks proactively, e.g. via trend analysis, Project/Change impact analysis, etc, supporting/performing thematic reviews/deep dives as required.
  • Coordination and remediation of risk events.
  • Collaborate with the Business to identify issues and remedial actions. Record and manage issues and actions on MetricStream/Internal Risk systems.
  • Support and produce papers/MI for Key Management Meetings and Committees.
  • Provide risk management support, training, advice and guidance to stakeholders across the COO function.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Desired candidate would ideally have experience in Financial Services/Asset management, ideally within first/second line risk and control or Operational roles.
  • Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to pick up key concepts quickly.
  • Reporting experience – working skills with excel/PowerPoint/Power BI for an executive audience.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines - under pressure from varied stakeholders.
  • Forward thinking, collaborative and driven.
  • An open/effective communication style.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder Management.
  • Desirable but not essential; Relevant qualification or experience in Asset Management, Operational Risk Systems such as MetricStream, Asset Management Operational knowledge.
