On behalf of M&G, AMS are looking for an Accountant - Life Insurance (UK GAAP & IFRS) based in Edinburgh or London, United Kingdom. Please note this is a Hybrid Working Model.

The Role: The Business Change Accountant is a role which has arisen as a result of the growth strategy for the M&G Life business, aiming to fulfil the needs of retail and institutional customers, including leveraging the power of our unique With Profits fund. Covering multiple products across the Corporate Risk solution, International solution and Individual Life and Pensions markets including annuities and PruFund propositions. Reporting to the Business Development Accounting Manager, this is a key role for a Finance expert in delivering Finance's capabilities to support the growth strategy. Supporting the development of end-to-end finance solutions covering new Finance processes, reporting and operations and supporting delivery of strategic capability developments relevant to the Financial Control and Finance Operations CoEs.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Play a key role in supporting the delivery of end-to-end Finance solutions that support the growth of the Life business and strategic capability developments pertinent to the Financial Control and Finance Operations CoEs.
- Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost, and risk.
- Challenges the status quo, embraces change, anticipates need for and strives to make continuous incremental improvements and is responsive to future business requirements.
- Support the delivery of change initiatives and management of delivery risk and conflict.
- Where Finance solutions related to growth of the Life business are tactical in nature, support the running of components of these solutions as BAU prior to strategic scalable solutions being delivered.
- Working with the wider Finance teams, including Finance Operations and Change teams to ensure reporting capabilities for new propositions are in place in a timely and controlled manner.
- Support the project team with SME insights and solution development to support projects to deliver the required benefits and outcomes within the specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, benefit, and risk.
- Complete handover of the changes to BAU and business benefits realisation activities to close off projects.
- Take responsibility for personal delivery that is of a high standard, focused on addressing requirements and delivery of tangible outputs.
What we require from the candidate:
- An experienced qualified accountant (e.g. CA, ACA, ACCA) is preferable.
- Experience of working in a Life insurer and leading change, including the Finance impacts of bringing new products to market.
- Knowledge and experience of actuarial or accounting processes and reporting Life Insurance and pension products on both a UK GAAP and IFRS basis.
- Understanding of with-profits product complexities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of regulatory Solvency II reporting is advantageous.
- Working knowledge of the impact of governance, risk and compliance processes.
- Demonstratable experience of supporting business transformation / change projects, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders within a Finance Function.
- Collaborating effectively with stakeholders at various levels ensuring successful completion of all change projects.
