This Project Manager role will reside within our Life business unit as part of the Change & Transformation team. The overall Change team’s purpose being to provide oversight and assurance on all aspects of business change and transformation delivery for or impacting our Life business, whilst ensuring change and transformation delivery is aligned to both our Life and wider M&G strategy.

These roles own the end-to-end delivery of small to medium complex projects. You will be responsible for driving the definition of the business case, project objectives, scope, resources and expected business outcomes, together with detailed project plans. You will be expected to implement and adhere to the required project management methodologies and governance and provide the project team, including our key delivery partners, with direction and confidence to deliver and leverage the expected benefits.

This role requires strong delivery discipline, excellent stakeholder engagement, proactive risk management and the ability to navigate complex, multi‑party delivery environments to achieve measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Shape the project or business event to drive optimum delivery of outcomes — including planning at the appropriate level of detail, sequencing and structuring workstreams, and ensuring alignment to the underlying business need.
  • Establish and co‑ordinate change activities across Customer Service, including the engagement, monitoring and integration of all third‑party deliveries and dependencies.
  • Proactively engage and manage stakeholders, ensuring direction, scope, priorities, and progress are understood, aligned, and communicated throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Monitor and review all aspects of project delivery and economics, including production of deliverables, cost management, staffing requirements, resource allocation, and overall financial and operational performance.
  • Ensure effective communication, governance, quality assurance and monitoring, supported by clear reporting, transparent decision‑making and full traceability of progress, changes, and risks.
  • Work collaboratively and take personal accountability for driving a shared understanding across stakeholders and enabling appropriate trade‑offs to strengthen delivery confidence and meet agreed timelines.
  • Take end‑to‑end responsibility for the delivery of projects or linked business events, ensuring clear agreement on required outcomes and realisation of benefits as defined in the business case or supporting documentation (e.g., increased FTE efficiency, improved CSAT, reduced complaints).
  • Act as the point of escalation and support, ensuring timely resolution of significant risks, issues, and blockers that threaten delivery or target timelines.
  • Articulate, manage, and reduce overall risk exposure, maintaining and enhancing the business and change controls within your assigned projects, supporting improvements to the overall control environment, customer outcomes, and the reduction of M&G’s operational risk.

  • Must Have
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, agile and flexible environments, adapting delivery approaches to support evolving business needs.
  • Proven experience working within and managing cross‑functional teams, including external partners, to ensure coordinated and successful delivery.
  • Experience managing multi‑disciplined teams and complex delivery structures, ensuring alignment, clarity of roles and effective coordination.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management experience, working across multiple business areas and engaging at varying levels of complexity and seniority.
  • Solid expertise in project methodologies, planning processes and change‑management techniques, with the ability to apply them appropriately across different delivery contexts.
  • Strong understanding of risk‑management principles, with the capability to identify, assess, manage, and control risks and their impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Experience of project monitoring and reporting, producing clear, accurate and timely updates for stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering successfully through a full waterfall project lifecycle, from initiation to close.
  • Experience of project governance, producing high‑quality documentation and evidence to meet internal standards, controls, and regulatory expectations.
  • Highly Desirable
  • Experience delivering Finance transformation, Front office projects or working on projects with a heavy actuarial or accounting element.
  • Working knowledge of life and pensions products, markets, and competitors, and how they influence change delivery.
  • Working knowledge of financial‑services regulation and legislative frameworks, with an understanding of how these drive or shape change.
  • Understanding of Project using; Artificial Intelligence Policy Administration Systems, Contact Centre CRM platforms, and emerging to support meaningful and informed discussions with key business stakeholders.
