Job overview

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our dedicated team within the Haematology Department at Wythenshawe hospital.

This role is covering a five day service working between the hours of 08:00 -16:00. We promote flexibility and are happy to support different working patterns within the needs of the service.

We will support you with specialist and bespoke training to reach your potential and excel in your chosen career path. You will receive one to one clinical support, professional development, and guidance.

Main duties of the job

In the role as Health Care Support Worker working without direct supervision, you will be responsible for delivering clinical care for patients in their own home with immediate access to a qualified staff member for advice and direction on care as required.

You will be required to undertake venepuncture, obtain ECGs, and complete observations and document accordingly.

You will be responsible for your prioritising your own caseload of work and be responsible for tasks delegated from a registered nurse.

Communicating effectively with patients, relatives, carers, and other healthcare practitioners, internal and external to the team, ensuring any concerns are listened to and relevant actions are taken.

You will always act in a manner, which illustrates respect for privacy, dignity and confidentiality.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • NVQ III or equivalent by qualification/ experience / care certificate
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy
  • venepuncture and cannualtion

Experience

  • Some understanding of the needs of oncology patients
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the team and independently
  • Ability to work under supervision
  • Previous experience of work in a health or social care setting
  • NHS experience
