THE ROLE
Investment Operations – Strategist UK works in close partnership with the Director of Investment Operations UK to provide operational support to the investment and client support teams in the London office. Utilises industry knowledge to support the design of process flow and procedures with regard to best practices with a focus on fixed income and derivatives. The Investment Operations – Strategist UK will be an escalation point for time sensitive operational issues arising in the London office and will assist in the resolution of issues related to operations affecting the London office. This individual will seek to develop relationships, both locally and globally, ensuring all relevant parties are kept abreast of critical issues in a timely manner.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Possess a strong understanding of end-to-end operations workflows, including data management, cash flows, transitions of client accounts order management, trade support, settlements, cash management, corporate actions, reporting and performance, to problem solve and identify interdependencies.
- Additionally, has a strong comprehension of fixed-income securities and derivatives.
- Partners across various teams in Operations based in other MFS offices as well as MFS’ offshore/outsourced operations hub.
- Reporting into the Director of Investment Operations UK, operates as a local escalation point for Operations-related issues (across internal processes, external providers such as custodian, brokers, vendors) with a focus on fixed income and derivative matters as well as serving as a liaison with teams in other locations to actively evaluate, provide solutions, address issues and respond in a timely manner.
- Acts as front-line support for the local Fixed Income team and is the main point of contact for all fixed income data issues related to Risk, Inventory and Trading Applications and incorporates feedback from users to expand existing functionality and services.
- Partners with operations teams to seek out opportunities to better leverage technology in order to streamline manual processes.
- Participate in inter/intra department teams, including MFS’ offshore/outsourced operations hub, to drive operational excellence by enhancing processes, improving service for all relevant stakeholders and minimizing processing risks.
- Exhibit a deep mastery of inventory and trading systems such as Eagle, Bloomberg Port, Charles River Investment Management System.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience in operational activities across all asset classes desired.
- Deep knowledge and experience with fixed income and derivatives would be required.
- Strong technical background in operations.
- Experience working in a diverse environment where production, controls, and daily deadlines are required.
- Experience with key external stakeholders such as custodians, brokers required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail, strong leadership skills and demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
