Investment Operations - Strategist UK works in close partnership with the Director of Investment Operations UK to provide operational support to the investment and client support teams in the London office. Utilises industry knowledge to support the design of process flow and procedures with regard to best practices with a focus on fixed income and derivatives. The Investment Operations - Strategist UK will be an escalation point for time sensitive operational issues arising in the London office and will assist in the resolution of issues related to operations affecting the London office. This individual will seek to develop relationships, both locally and globally, ensuring all relevant parties are kept abreast of critical issues in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Possess a strong understanding of end-to-end operations workflows, including data management, cash flows, transitions of client accounts, order management, trade support, settlements, cash management, corporate actions, reporting and performance, to problem solve and identify interdependencies.
- Demonstrate a strong comprehension of fixed-income securities and derivatives.
- Partner across various operations teams in other MFS offices and with MFS' offshore/outsourced operations hub.
- Report to the Director of Investment Operations UK and act as a local escalation point for Operations-related issues, focusing on fixed income and derivative matters.
- Serve as liaison with teams in other locations to evaluate, provide solutions, address issues and respond in a timely manner.
- Act as front-line support for the local Fixed Income team and be the main point of contact for all fixed income data issues related to Risk, Inventory and Trading Applications; incorporate user feedback to expand functionality and services.
- Collaborate with operations teams to identify opportunities to leverage technology and streamline manual processes.
- Participate in inter/intra department teams to drive operational excellence, enhance processes, improve service, and minimise processing risks.
- Maintain mastery of inventory and trading systems such as Eagle, Bloomberg Port, and Charles River Investment Management System.
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Experience in operational activities across asset classes is desired.
- Deep knowledge and experience with fixed income and derivatives is required.
- Strong technical background in operations.
- Experience working in a diverse environment with production, controls, and daily deadlines.
- Experience with key external stakeholders such as custodians and brokers is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
