We are looking for someone who understands the financial data, reconciliations and cash flows behind an electricity supply business.The company is a licensed electricity supplier with its own software platform. It supplies and trades power, manages a portfolio of embedded generation sites and is building the technology that supports its operations.The opportunityAs Head of Finance, you will become the sole finance person in the company, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team. An external finance function currently supports the business and will provide an initial handover. You will then take ownership of finance and build the processes, controls and reporting needed as the company grows.You could already be leading a finance function, or you could be a strong Finance Manager or senior accountant ready to take the next step. What matters is your electricity supply experience, sound financial control and appetite for broad ownership.The business relies heavily on data and modern AI tools. The Head of Finance will play a central part in moving to an AI-enabled accounting platform and improving how transactions are reconciled, payments are processed and financial information is reported. You should be genuinely enthusiastic about using data, automation and AI to make finance more accurate, useful and scalable.Key responsibilitiesOwn month-end and year-end close, management accounts and balance-sheet reconciliationsReport on revenue, gross margin, energy costs and the financial performance of the electricity supply portfolioBuild cash flow forecasts and manage liquidity, working capital, payments, credit cover and collateralOversee statutory accounts, external audit and finance-related regulatory reportingLead budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting for senior management and the BoardEstablish clear financial controls across supply data, transactions and reportingWork with settlements, metering, trading, operations and technology colleagues to understand and reconcile financial dataLead the transition to a modern accounting platform and introduce appropriate AI and automated workflowsDevelop finance processes and, as the company grows, help shape its future finance teamWhat we are looking forDirect experience in the finance team of an electricity supplier, with clear exposure to the finances of supplying customersPractical knowledge of relevant areas such as settlements, revenue, gross margin, consumption, unbilled revenue, energy costs or related reconciliationsStrong accounting foundations, including financial controls, month-end reporting and balance-sheet ownershipThe ability to work independently and take responsibility across a broad finance remitConfidence working with complex data and collaborating with operational and technology teamsGenuine interest in AI tools, automation and modern finance systemsACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or progress towards qualification supported by particularly strong electricity supply finance experienceYou do not need to have held the Head of Finance title before.
