About the client

My client is a digital and business transformation consultancy, with a diverse range of expertise. They possess the unique capability to shepherd ideas from their inception, through design and development phases, all the way to commercialisation. Beyond mere product development, they breathe new life into departments and organisations by instilling innovative leadership, fostering dynamic cultures, and optimising systems and processes.

Unlike many consulting organisations, architects here remain close to both the technology and the client. You will work directly with senior stakeholders, shape complex transformation programmes, influence technology strategy, and help organisations solve some of their most challenging business and technology problems.

About the role

This is an opportunity for an experienced Lead Solution Architect to operate at the intersection of technology leadership, client advisory, and business growth. You will lead architecture across large-scale transformation programmes, helping clients modernise legacy estates, adopt cloud-native platforms, and deliver measurable business outcomes. At the same time, you will play a key role in shaping new opportunities, supporting strategic pursuits, and building long-term client relationships.

Success in this role comes from combining strong architectural judgement with commercial awareness, stakeholder influence, and the ability to translate complex technology challenges into practical business value. You will work directly with senior client stakeholders, delivery teams, and consulting leaders, helping shape both client outcomes and the future growth of the architecture practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and communicate architecture strategies across application, business, data, and integration domains.
  • Lead architecture on complex transformation programmes, maintaining hands-on involvement in solution design where appropriate.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as both strategic advisor and technical authority.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes and investment decisions.
  • Lead and contribute to pre-sales activities, including workshops, solution shaping, proposals, and client presentations.
  • Support the identification and development of new opportunities within existing and prospective client accounts.
  • Facilitate architecture discovery sessions, roadmap development, and stakeholder workshops.
  • Mentor architects and engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and high-performance delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of new propositions, service offerings, and go-to-market initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading solution architecture across complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership.
  • Proven experience supporting business development activities, including pre-sales, proposal development, and client engagement.
  • Experience delivering transformation programmes within financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders ranging from engineering teams through to executive leadership.
  • Experience using architecture frameworks and modelling approaches such as TOGAF, UML, ArchiMate, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns including microservices, event-driven systems, distributed architectures, and API-led integration.
  • Experience across cloud and enterprise technology platforms, including AWS, Azure, GCP, Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent ecosystems.
  • Strong consulting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially aware, pragmatic, and outcome-focused.

Why Join?

  • Lead high-profile transformation programmes for major organisations.
  • Influence technology strategy and investment decisions at executive level.
  • Combine architecture leadership with consulting, innovation, and business growth.
