We are looking for a reliable and proactive Night Security & Porter to join our team at our purpose-built student accommodation in Coventry. In this overnight role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security, safety, and cleanliness of the building, as well as providing a reassuring and professional presence for our student residents. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who is calm under pressure, confident working alone, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly overnight. Working hours for this position are between: Monday to Friday 18:30 – 05:00am, Saturday and Sunday 17:30 – 05:00am on a shift of 4 on and 4 off.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of the building
- Monitor CCTV and access systems, reporting any concerns or incidents
- Ensure all communal areas remain clean, safe, and presentable during the shift
- Respond to resident queries, noise complaints, and incidents in a professional manner
- Act as the first point of contact in emergencies or fire evacuations
- Support with basic maintenance checks and reporting of issues
- Complete accurate shift handover logs and incident reports
- Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the site
- Parcel distribution
- Responding to booking enquiries
About You
- Previous experience in a facilities, security, or night porter role (desirable but not essential)
- Confident and approachable, with strong communication skills
- Able to remain calm and professional when dealing with unexpected situations
- Comfortable working independently overnight
- Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Awareness of health & safety, fire safety, and safeguarding best practices
