IT Support Engineer in Glasgow

Glasgow Full-Time On-site
M

Good at solving users’ IT problems? Ready to get closer to the infrastructure behind them?

You enjoy the troubleshooting. Working out what’s gone wrong, finding the fix and helping someone get on with their day.

But you also want to build your knowledge. Get involved with servers, networking and projects. Understand more of the environment you’re supporting.

This growing software company offers that mix.

Joining a small, close-knit IT team in Glasgow, you’ll support colleagues across the business while working alongside an experienced Senior IT Engineer. You’ll bring your existing support skills and have room to develop them further.

What’s in it for you?

  • Hybrid working: Three days per week in the Glasgow office.
  • Technical variety: User support, Microsoft 365, hardware, networking and infrastructure.
  • Experienced people around you: Work closely with a Senior IT Engineer and IT Manager who can support your development.
  • Broader responsibilities: Get involved in internal projects and build towards more advanced infrastructure work over time.

What you’ll do

You’ll provide 1st and 2nd line support to colleagues, both remotely and in the Glasgow office.

Some issues will need a quick fix. Others will take investigation, testing and input from the wider team. You’ll take ownership, keep people informed and know when to bring in senior support.

Your work will include:

  • Troubleshooting Windows, Microsoft 365, laptop, desktop and Mac issues.
  • Setting up devices, managing user accounts and administering access.
  • Helping resolve network, Wi‑Fi and firewall problems.
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 administration across Exchange Online, Entra ID and Intune.
  • Assisting with Windows Server maintenance, patching and core infrastructure services.
  • Contributing to IT projects, equipment upgrades and improvements.
  • Keeping asset records and technical documentation accurate.

As your knowledge grows, there’s scope to gain further experience across Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper‑V and networking.

What you’ll bring

You might already work in 2nd line support, or be a capable 1st line engineer ready for broader responsibilities.

You’ll need:

  • A solid grounding in Microsoft 365 and Windows support.
  • Confidence troubleshooting devices and helping end users.
  • Basic networking knowledge and a methodical approach to finding faults.
  • Clear communication, including with colleagues who aren’t technical.
  • The initiative to investigate, ask questions and keep learning.
  • A practical, collaborative approach to getting things done.

Some Windows Server or Active Directory experience would be useful. You’ll have experienced engineers alongside you as you build your skills.
