What’s the role really about?
This isn’t a traditional “hands-on infrastructure manager” role. Yes, you’ll need a strong technical background. But the real value comes from:
- communication
- stakeholder management
- strategy
- visibility within the business
You’ll act as the bridge between the company and their MSP partner, helping ensure technology supports the business properly as it continues to grow. Some days that means strategic planning. Other days it means jumping into an important AV setup before a key client meeting. It’s a role for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people.
What you’ll be doing
- Acting as the internal IT lead and trusted technology advisor
- Helping shape the company’s IT roadmap and longer-term strategy
- Working closely with department heads to understand challenges and opportunities
- Coordinating with the MSP to ensure support and delivery standards remain high
- Improving internal systems, processes, and ways of working
- Supporting collaboration, communication, and file management initiatives across the business
- Providing a calm, professional presence during important meetings and client interactions
- Translating technical concepts into clear, non-technical language when needed
What you’ll bring
- Previous experience in an IT Manager / Technology Manager style role
- A strong technical background across infrastructure, Microsoft environments, and business systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence working with both technical and non-technical people
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Someone approachable, professional, and calm under pressure
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on attitude
The reality of the role
This business places huge value on:
- professionalism
- relationships
- culture
- communication
They need someone who:
- enjoys being part of the wider business
- can build trust across teams
- understands that “good IT” is often about people as much as technology
This is not the role for someone who wants to sit quietly in the background. It’s for someone who wants to be involved. This role suits someone who wants to move beyond simply managing technology and become a genuine part of how a business operates and grows.
