Position Summary
The Production Planner III is a senior-level professional responsible for managing and optimizing the production schedule for standard manufacturing operations, ensuring high efficiency and on-time delivery of products as the master scheduler. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position involves working closely with procurement and production teams to balance factory demands. The role includes mentoring junior planners, streamlining planning processes, and aligning production strategies with organizational goals.
Essential Functions
- Lead the creation, maintenance, and optimization of detailed production schedules, considering customer demand, resource availability, and inventory constraints.
- Collaborate with planning team members to balance priorities between service needs and manufacturing demands.
- Monitor and adjust schedules to accommodate demand fluctuations and material shortages to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with procurement, engineering, quality, and warehouse teams to align materials, resources, and labor with production needs.
- Communicate scheduling updates and priorities to production supervisors.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and serve as a point of escalation.
- Monitor raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate procurement activities with buyers and planners to ensure material availability.
- Implement strategies to improve inventory accuracy and reduce costs.
- Analyze production capacity based on demand forecasts and staffing.
- Identify bottlenecks and develop mitigation plans.
- Drive process improvements to enhance capacity utilization and throughput.
- Track KPIs such as on-time delivery and schedule adherence, and report on production progress.
- Use data insights for trend analysis and strategic planning.

Experience
- 7+ years in production planning or scheduling within manufacturing, preferably in regulated industries.
- Proven success in managing complex schedules and optimizing resources.
- Experience with ERP systems, inventory management, and procurement software.
- Strong forecasting and demand management skills.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
