Role Title: Employment Counsel
Our client is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to join their legal team based in London.
This is a hybrid role with a flexible office-based component.
The successful candidate will be agile and flexible in their approach and will provide legal advice and support across all areas of employment law and human resources, working closely with stakeholders to manage legal risk and ensure compliance with UK employment legislation.
Responsibilities include
- Advising stakeholders on a broad range of employment law matters, including employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and performance management.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment contracts, agreements and other employment documentation.
- Managing employment disputes, conducting workplace investigations and representing the business in Employment Tribunal proceedings where required.
- Reviewing and updating employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and best practice.
- Providing employment law training and practical guidance to managers and key stakeholders.
- Identifying and mitigating employment-related legal risks while monitoring legislative developments and advising on their impact.
- Liaising with external legal advisers where appropriate.
- Candidate requirements
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of eight years' post-qualification experience specialising in employment law.
- Extensive knowledge of UK employment law, including employment contracts, discrimination, disciplinary procedures and termination.
- Strong understanding of UK HR practices, policies and compliance requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive, self-motivated and committed to delivering high-quality legal advice and support.
- Willing to travel nationally and internationally as required.
