We are working with a growing and ambitious facilities management and property services business that is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Head of Finance to lead its finance function and play a key role in shaping the business's future growth. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to join the senior leadership team, providing strategic financial leadership while ensuring robust financial control, compliance and operational excellence.

As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations across the business, ensuring the organisation maintains strong financial performance, effective governance and the financial infrastructure required to support continued growth. Working closely with the operational leadership teams, you will provide strategic insight, drive financial planning and reporting, manage cash flow and working capital, and lead a high-performing finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies aligned to business objectives
  • Leading the annual budgeting process and preparing rolling forecasts, including cash flow, profit and loss, and capital expenditure projections
  • Providing financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives
  • Contributing to the overall development and continuous improvement of the business
  • Preparing and presenting accurate monthly and annual management accounts
  • Delivering detailed financial analysis, KPIs, trends, ratios and performance reporting
  • Developing project profitability reporting to enhance commercial decision-making
  • Providing financial support for contract pricing, tender submissions, renewals and business development opportunities
  • Overseeing cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Managing relationships with external accountants, auditors, financial advisers and banks
  • Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements
  • Managing year-end accounts preparation and external audits
  • Managing corporate tax planning, VAT, CIS and payroll processes
  • Leading the development and enhancement of financial systems and reporting processes
  • Identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team

Candidate requirements

  • ACA/FCA, ACCA/FCCA or CIMA qualified is essential
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller or equivalent, ideally within a facilities management and property services business
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams
  • Strong knowledge of management and statutory accounting
  • Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to interpret financial data in relation to operational performance and contract delivery
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow models
  • Strong understanding of payroll, VAT, CIS and corporate tax requirements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with modern cloud-based financial systems
  • Experience using Sage 200 or equivalent ERP and payroll platforms
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, clients, suppliers and operational teams
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • A proactive, solutions-focused and hands-on approach
