We are looking for an Applications Engineer to help develop and improve X-ray inspection systems for the food industry. You will work hands-on with new ideas, turning research into real solutions. Your job will be to test new technologies, confirm they work, and support the launch of advanced X-ray inspection tools worldwide at METTLER TOLEDO. Be part of a team that keeps products safe and reliable worldwide!
What You’ll Do
- Occasionally train sales and service staff and support the roll-out of new machines and applications at customer sites.
- Design, conduct, and analyse feasibility studies and performance tests on food products using X-ray inspection systems.
- Evaluate and optimise system parameters for maximum detection performance across various applications.
- Identify new application opportunities for X-ray inspection systems in the food industry and beyond.
- Support development and integration of new machine features, subsystems, and software enhancements.
- Collaborate with R&D teams from software, hardware, electronics, and physics to turn ideas into practical solutions.
- Conduct structured tests on prototype systems, new releases, and subsystems to validate performance.
- Create detailed technical documentation, feasibility reports, and application guidelines.
- Provide technical training and application support to global sales and service teams.
- Assist with customer site deployments to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies and applications.
- Work closely with product management, field service, and application specialists to align R&D output with market needs.
- Share feedback from testing and customer interactions to help shape product development.
What You Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of imaging technologies, electronic components, and laboratory-based experimental methods.
- Awareness of Agile methodology and structured R&D processes.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation.
- Collaborative team player with ability to work across disciplines, sites, and cultures.
- Clear communicator with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
