METTLER TOLEDO are a global manufacturer with over 17,000 employees worldwide. We specialise in manufacturing analytical and precision instruments across the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. At our unit in Manchester, we design and manufacture metal detectors used to detect and reject metal contamination in food and pharmaceutical applications.

We’re looking for driven and enthusiastic people to join our Engineering Fitter apprenticeship programme, starting in September 2026. You will have the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience alongside classroom-based learning, all while earning a salary.

The Programme:

  • Both mechanical and electrical apprentices will follow a similar training pathway, which includes exposure to departments such as Stores, Production, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • You will have the opportunity to rotate throughout the factory, acquiring the skills and knowledge about the processes involved in constructing our products.
  • In your final year, you will complete an end-point assessment (EPA) which takes place after you have completed all your training and gained the necessary skills and knowledge required for the job. The EPA typically includes a project, multiple choice test and professional discussion.
  • Successful completion of the EPA will lead to a nationally recognised Level 4 HNC in Engineering.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Minimum Grade 5 in GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Passion for engineering
  • Willingness to learn
  • Motivation and a can-do attitude
  • Ability to commute to our site in Salford, and to the training provider (Elevated Knowledge) in Stockport.
