About Mettis: We design, manufacture and assemble precision forged and machined components at our fully integrated facility in the heart of the UK.

Reporting to the Head of Business Unit, the Planning Control Lead plays a pivotal role within Operations, orchestrating the activities of the Business Unit to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time to customer requirements. This includes managing the internal supply of forgings to the Machining BU, ensuring accurate capacity planning, maintaining disciplined WIP control and supporting strategic SIOP analysis.

You will create and maintain 13‑week time‑phased manufacturing plans in EFACS, control short‑term production schedules and respond dynamically to customer, material or operational changes.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates are required to satisfy ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance and must fulfil the following before commencing this role:

  • Currently hold the legal Right to Work in the UK
  • Fulfil a DBS clearance

Support SIOP activity through analysis of load versus capacity across headcount, machinery, materials and methods. Manage subcontract products including requisitioning and supplier delivery performance. Adhere to PPE and safety policies. Participate in risk assessments and near‑miss reduction initiatives.

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate planning data within EFACS to support quality compliance.
  • Support waste reduction through accurate planning and WIP control.
  • Provide accurate forecasts to support business financial planning.
  • Influence cross‑functional stakeholders to drive best‑practice planning behaviours.
  • Build collaborative relationships across Operations, Engineering, Quality and other key functions.

Business Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of MRP theory, master production scheduling and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 business systems and procedural compliance.
  • High competency in MRP logic, scheduling and load versus capacity analysis.
  • Ability to build constructive working relationships across business functions.
  • Calm and assured approach to resolving challenging or conflicting planning situations.
  • Proficient IT capability including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to follow and promote best‑practice planning disciplines and continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent

Pension: 3% Employer, 5% Employee contribution
