Key Responsibilities
- Your time will be split between Client Advisory (40%), Team Management (30%), and High-Level Technical Work (30%).
- Take full ownership of a diverse portfolio of Limited Companies including VAT compliances.
- Be the face of "Peace of Mind" for our clients. You will handle high-level queries for Limited Companies regarding tax planning, remuneration strategies, business growth, ensuring they understand their numbers without the jargon.
- Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities for clients (e.g., R&D claims, VAT efficiency, Capital Allowances).
Team Leadership & Quality Control
- Oversee the workflow of the accounts department, ensuring all statutory deadlines are met.
- Review Year-End Accounts, CT600s, and VAT returns prepared by the team, providing technical feedback to improve standards.
- Mentor junior staff, helping them progress from compliance processing to advisory roles.
Operational Strategy
- Assist the Founder in refining and documenting internal processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Champion the use of cloud technology (Xero, Quickbooks, FreeAgent, Briefcase, Practice Management software) to automate routine tasks.
About You
- We are looking for a fully qualified (ACCA/ACA) accountant with minimum 4-5 years in a UK Accountancy Practice, with at least 2 years managing your own portfolio and a team.
- Craves Ownership: You want to run your portfolio like it’s your own business. You take pride in accuracy and sleep better knowing a job was done properly. You must be a problem solver who can think out of the box.
- Loves Tech: You aren’t scared of AI or automation; you use them to buy back time so you can be super productive and up to date with the latest tech in the market. You should be able to showcase your ability to integrate systems to streamline work where possible.
- Leads with Empathy: You understand that behind every limited company is a person trying to build a life. You can explain complex tax rules in plain English and make sure we educate the client as part of the process.
- Is a Natural Mentor: You will help guide our junior team members and coordinate with team working remotely, ensuring the "Metta Standard" is maintained always.
- Sharp Advisor: Advisory experience related to business structuring, complex group structures, R&D tax credits and similar advisory level work would make you most ideal.
