We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to take ownership of complex, design-driven schemes valued at £5m+, providing cost leadership, strategic advice, and commercial insight from inception to completion.

The Role
As Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager, you’ll:
- Manage cost estimations, and value engineering.
- Manage procurement, contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC), and negotiations.
- Provide proactive cost control and financial reporting throughout delivery.
- Oversee change management, valuations, claims, and close-out.
- Be part of the Cost Team driving informed decision-making.
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Contract:
- Prepare feasibility studies, estimates, and cost plans.
- Advise on budgets, procurement strategy, and appropriate contract forms (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
- Undertake benchmarking, value engineering, and risk management.
Tender & Contract Formation:
- Involved in tender process from documentation through evaluation and recommendation.
- Draft and review contract documents to ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards.
- Support clients with contractor selection and appointment.
Post-Contract / Construction:
- Provide proactive cost management, reporting regularly on risks, opportunities, and budget status.
- Maintain site presence to track progress, validate valuations, and ensure accurate cost control.
- Manage change management, variations, and contractor negotiations.
- Assist procurement processes end-to-end, from scoping to contract execution.
- Monitor project cash flow, track invoices, and provide clients with financial forecasts.
Final Account & Close-Out:
- Be part of the team to assist with negotiation and settlement of final accounts.
- Benchmark project outcomes and capture lessons learned for future projects.
Key Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, including experience in consultancy.
- Strong communicator with experience in client facing negotiation and final account approvals.
- Skilled in cost planning, estimating, reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Experienced in procurement, contract administration (JCT, NEC, FIDIC), and change/claims management.
- Comfortable engaging with design teams (architecture and interiors) and leading value engineering.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- International client exposure and ability to work across cultures (desirable but not essential).
- Adaptable, solutions-driven, and ambitious, with a strong problem-solving mindset and appetite to help grow the business.
