We are seeking a Test Center Technician to join our Metso team. In this role you will be responsible for setup, operation, analysis, and reporting of tests performed on mineral samples. Activities include crushing, splitting, density, abrasion, grindability, particle size distribution, and involvement in development projects. This position will be located in Manchester, Pennsylvania at our Test Center.
What you’ll do:
- Setting up and operating equipment and circuits such as crushing, grinding, classification, filtration, dewatering, pyrolysis, and related mineral processing equipment.
- Adjusting and optimizing circuits with the goal of yielding results as specified by the customer.
- Conducting physical property tests on mineral samples.
- Troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating Test Center equipment as necessary to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Performing select on-site assignments, involving grinding circuit sampling, data collection, and reporting findings.
- Guiding and mentoring Test Center Utility and Test Center Interns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Technician Supervisor and Test Center Manager.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Laboratory technician experience preferred but not required.
- Mechanical, electrical, and computer skills preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Able to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aptitude.
- Ability to learn technical material.
Essential Physical Job Functions and Work Environment:
- Regularly required to remain in a stationary position, position self around equipment, operate equipment, and communicate with team members.
- Regularly required to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolds, mobile equipment.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to manipulate 60lb buckets into test equipment at heights from 1-4ft and remove onto a skid or hand truck for transportation.
- Must be able to observe testing equipment and identify required adjustments.
