Introduction We are seeking a motivated and technically‑oriented Director of Product Sales Support (Advanced Automation, Electrical and Software Services) professional to join our team based in our Newcastle Australia office. The role will be responsible for leading commercial strategy, governance and revenue growth across industrial automation professional services and Smart Automation software product lines. This role involves leading a team of Market Area located resources providing specialized Bulk Material Handling technical sales support, managing and driving the sales process, and collaborating with sales teams to build campaigns, prioritize opportunities, and develop solutions. This position is the interface between the market area based Product Sales Support Engineers and the business line product teams, ensuring alignment and effective communication. The position supports product development teams in creating and deploying offerings, best practices, sales training, and value argumentation. This position is based in Newcastle, but we are happy to offer flexible working options, including hybrid arrangements. This position may require up to 20% travel, both regionally and occasional globally.

The goal of the team is to provide high‑quality technical solutions for customer opportunities and projects, ensuring that our proposed solutions are viewed as the superior choice for our customers, promoting brand value, and achieving booking and margin results. We work closely with internal stakeholders, such as Directors, Sales, Proposals, Engineering, and Project Management teams in a global setting.
What You’ll Do
- Commercial Strategy & Governance: Lead and manage the commercial strategy, contract oversight, compliance, performance monitoring, risk management, and governance processes for engineering services, automation projects, and the software suite.
- Corporate Sales Focus: Develop and implement commercial strategies, scalable sales models, and executive engagement programs to support enterprise clients and foster long‑term corporate relationships.
- Sales Leadership & Business Development: The role involves leading the sales function across software, services and engineering solutions, managing key accounts, driving growth and market strategy, mentoring the sales team, and ensuring effective CRM usage for accurate reporting.
- Software Sales: Drive the commercial expansion of software through scalable subscription sales processes, product‑based frameworks, and close collaboration with product teams to meet market and client needs.
- Client, Partner & Market Engagement: In this role, you will cultivate strong relationships with key clients in mining, ports, infrastructure, and heavy industry, work with resellers and technology partners to broaden market presence, act as the senior escalation point for commercial matters, champion a customer‑focused approach that delivers measurable value, and identify market trends to shape product and commercial strategy.
- Cross Functional Collaboration & Delivery Alignment: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to maintain project alignment, prevent scope creep, support budgeting and pricing, provide commercial insights, and ensure all decisions align with operational capabilities.
- Leadership, Culture & Organisational Contribution: Lead a high‑performing commercial and sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, client focus, and commercial discipline, while conducting regular sales meetings, serving as a trusted advisor to Directors, and contributing to strategic planning and operational improvements.
- Business Line and Market Area collaboration: As part of the business line, work within the embedded Market Area sales team to ensure alignment and facilitating a seamless interface.
- Training: Coach and train market area service sales teams.
Who You Are
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Automation Engineering or Business degree with industrial experience.
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience. Experience in commercial, sales, or business management roles in engineering or software sectors.
- Industry: Bulk Materials Handling & Software knowledge.
- Skills: Strong background in engineering design principles, product knowledge of major mining equipment, excellent communication skills, ability to understand and communicate issues domestically and internationally, and high‑level computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge: Electrical, automation and software, Bulk material Handling equipment, Mining market, supplier evaluation, and risk management.
