About Us

Metryx is a fast-growing software agency in the data and analytics space, with a mission to transform the way our clients operate through visual analytics. Our team gets excited by finding and using the latest technology to build outstanding products to bring to market. We are immensely proud to work with the world’s biggest brands with an ethos of continuous innovation and pushing the boundaries of analytics and digital storytelling.

Role

Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking for self-motivated, curious, and forward-thinking problem solvers to join our BI team. As a Commercial Data Analyst within Metryx, you will be working alongside global client teams to understand trends and insight, both within the client organisation and the wider marketplace. You’ll enjoy problem solving and be an exceptionally analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail. You will take ownership to interpret client needs, design and conduct analysis and present high-quality user and data stories in a visual format to senior client teams and their partners (often at corporate board-level).

You will be a proficient user of data visualisation software such as Tableau and PowerBI and will use these tools to prepare, analyse and visualise insight for easy consumption by a non-technical audience. You may have some knowledge of programming languages or databases which will help, although this is not essential. Alongside your analytical skills, you will understand best practice for BI principles, UX/UI design and digital storytelling. You will have a philosophy of self-learning, keeping up to date on trends and making sure you are able to exploit new technologies in your projects as they become available.

As a key point of client contact, you will be confident and take ownership of issue resolution as required. As part of the wider team, you will work alongside our in-house software developers, providing key perspectives on market demand, product features and user testing.

Required Experience

  • Experience with data visualisation tools (Tableau/PowerBI) and understanding of BI best practices
  • Experience analysing, modelling and interpreting complex data
  • Advanced Excel skills including PowerQuery (knowledge of DAX would be useful)
  • At least intermediate knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Comfortable working with an Agile methodology and using Kanban boards
  • Familiar with communicating with stakeholders to understand requirements
  • The ability to self-manage and work under pressure to handle competing demands and meet tight deadlines

Desired Attributes

  • Good degree (preferably in a STEM-based discipline) or relevant experience in a data role
  • Excellent critical thinking and judgment
  • High level of mathematical ability and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A keen interest to join a fast-growing business in an entrepreneurial environment

Benefits

  • Salary £27,000 to £35,000 (depending upon experience)
  • Company Pension
  • Ability to regularly work from home
  • 25 Days Holiday (plus birthday leave)
  • 2 volunteering days per year
  • Employee Support Programme
  • On-site parking
  • Town centre location with good public transport links (train/bus)
  • Open plan office set-up with full amenities

We welcome the unique contributions that you can bring in terms of your education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
