Behind every police officer on the streets of London is a network of buildings, bases and workplaces that make their work possible. That's where you come in. We're looking for an Assistant Head of Engagement & Estate Strategy to help us transform and optimise the Metropolitan Police estate—so it works smarter, performs better and supports modern policing across London. If you're passionate about property, strategy and making a tangible impact at scale, this is a role where you can truly make your mark.

Location: Hendon or Sidcup • Contract: 12 months • Payrate: £760 per day • Umbrella – Vetting clearance: CTC/NPPV2 – must be living in the UK for the most recent 5 years to pass the vetting.

What's the opportunity? This isn't just about managing buildings—it's about shaping the future of how the Met operates. Working closely with the Head of Engagement and Estate Strategy, you'll help lead the way in delivering the MOPAC/Met Estate Strategy, making sure the right spaces are in the right places, for the right reasons. You'll be the bridge between strategy and reality—connecting operational teams with practical, forward-thinking estate solutions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead and develop a team of Engagement Managers who work directly with policing teams.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the Met and beyond.
  • Turn strategy into action: help shape and deliver the MOPAC/MPS Estate Strategy, champion the strategy by bringing it to life across the organisation, and align estate planning with operational and transformation priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior officers, board members, SROs and external partners; partner with other blue-light organisations, boroughs and property stakeholders.
  • Support negotiations on complex property deals, drive smarter decisions, and support financial planning and modelling with finance partners.
  • Contribute to business cases and options appraisals; balance demand, cost and operational need to create the best outcomes.
  • Ensure estate solutions are practical, affordable and future-focused; promote modern workplace approaches, including hybrid working.
  • Spot opportunities for collaboration and funding (e.g. Section 106, CIL).

What you'll bring:

  • Professional qualification (e.g. RICS) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong leadership experience in estates/property.
  • A track record of delivering in complex organisations.
  • Experience designing estate solutions that meet real user needs.
  • Brilliant communication and influencing skills.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, sometimes political environment.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in the public sector or policing environment.
  • Knowledge of governance, procurement and business cases.
  • Experience in demand management or business analysis.
  • Interest in modern workplace design and smarter working.

Why this role? Because this is more than estates. This is about supporting policing across one of the world's greatest cities, driving real transformation in how the Met operates, working with influential stakeholders across London, and leading change that has visible, lasting impact. Ready to get involved? If you're a strategic thinker, a natural collaborator and someone who enjoys turning complex challenges into real-world solutions—this could be the perfect next step. Apply now and help shape the future of the Metropolitan Police estate.
