Overview: The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) brings UK police leaders together to set direction in policing and drive progress for the public. The HR role supports the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), hiring managers and stakeholders in delivering workforce planning through Local Resource Planning Meetings (LRP) and recruitment processes, ensuring decisions are within budget and aligned with corporate priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the NPCC SLT, hiring managers and internal/external stakeholders to support workforce planning and recruitment.
  • Deliver recruitment administration for standard and complex positions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Manage legal contracts, pay agreements and other employment documentation.
  • Influence NPCC performance against objectives, target resource numbers and budgets for police officers and staff.
  • Provide support to all staff on HR matters.
  • Occasional national travel may be required; travel expenses will be paid when the home‑to‑work journey is exceeded.

Qualifications:

  • HR experience in attraction, recruitment, workforce deployment and planning, workforce data and leavers.
  • Experience managing competing issues and priorities, including escalated matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a responsible, resilient and inclusive manner, owning decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for responding to queries and requests for information.
  • Proactive problem‑solving attitude and initiative in resolving issues.
