This is an exciting opportunity to join the Modern Slavery Team within Specialist Crime of the Metropolitan Police. We are looking for civil investigators to investigate organised modern slavery, organised immigration crime, and child sexual exploitation by analysing digital and intelligence material, producing evidential products, and safeguarding victims. The role strengthens the Metropolitan Police Service’s response to serious and organised crime and contributes to the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct digital media investigations (mobile phone downloads, call data, online enquiries) and translate findings into evidential products for court to support successful prosecutions.
- Assess, develop, and disseminate intelligence from multiple sources to identify organised crime networks (OCN) and inform proactive operational activity.
- Safeguard victims by assessing risk, coordinating with partners, and ensuring appropriate protective measures are in place to prevent re‑victimisation.
- Prepare high‑quality written reports, evidential packages, and briefing materials that inform investigative decisions and judicial processes.
- Collaborate with internal units (e.g., Vulnerability and Partnership Teams, Safer Neighbourhoods, intelligence teams) to align activity with local and national priorities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with external partners (National Crime Agency, Europol, NGOs, Justice and Care, TOEX) to share intelligence and enhance joint investigations.
- Support the drafting of Modern Slavery Orders (Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Orders and Risk Orders) to disrupt offender activity.
- Participate in duty rota responsibilities, reviewing intelligence referrals, and developing them into viable investigative opportunities.
- Maintain and build relations with MO2 CIU department to interpret Call Data.
- Work under the guidance and strategies set by an accredited PIP3 Senior Investigating Officer (SIO); develop intelligence in line with specific investigative requirements while ensuring all activity aligns with supervisory strategies.
Who we’re looking for
- Working knowledge of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Immigration Act 1971 (Section 25), Sexual Offences Act, Serious Crime Act, Proceeds of Crime Act, and relevant safeguarding legislation.
- Understanding of local and national strategies relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, and organised immigration crime.
- Knowledge of digital media investigations, including mobile phone analysis, call data, and evidential handling of digital devices.
- Proficiency in intelligence analysis and developing evidential products from digital data.
- Ability to summarise large data sets and present clear, concise conclusions in reports and graphics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with victims, partners, and investigative teams.
- Effective workload management and ability to meet deadlines in fast‑paced, high‑risk investigations.
- Problem‑solving skills to identify innovative approaches to complex investigative challenges.
- Demonstrable experience as a Digital Media Investigator, mobile phone downloader, or equivalent specialist role.
- Experience in gathering and evaluating intelligence and evidence in complex investigations.
- Experience of working with multi‑agency partners to target organised crime.
- Experience in using MPS and national systems (e.g., CRIS, CONNECT, PNC, XRY, ANPR systems) to research, analyse, and present information.
Required qualifications for this role include
- Valid Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP2) accreditation.
- Full UK driving licence.
