The Leadership Academy for the Metropolitan Police Service is growing and has partnered exclusively with Reed Talent Solutions to recruit a Course Programme Manager on a permanent basis. Based in central London, this role will be mostly on site with the opportunity to work 1 day from home per week. You will also be required to attend other Met sites across London on occasion.

You would ideally be a competent and curious Leadership Development Course Manager with experience of designing impactful learning experiences that drive organisational success.

About the Role

In this role, you will lead the design and delivery of high-quality leadership development programmes. You’ll conduct Training Needs Analyses (TNA), engage with stakeholders, and create structured learning curriculums that align with organisational goals. Using proven instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, you’ll ensure our programmes are engaging, effective, and measurable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive TNAs to identify learning gaps and define performance objectives.
  • Design and develop leadership training programmes using methodologies such as ADDIE, SAT, or DSAT.
  • Create lesson plans, assessment strategies, and quality documentation to support consistent delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure training meets strategic priorities.
  • Utilise learning taxonomies (e.g., Bloom’s) and instructional design best practices to structure content.
The ideal you
  • Proven experience in instructional design and leadership development within complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in curriculum development, assessment design, and project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.
  • A creative, detail-oriented professional with a growth mindset.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Instructional Design, Education, or Learning & Development.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIPD Level 3–5) and project management training (Prince2, Agile).
  • Experience in public sector, policing, emergency services, or similar environments is desirable.
The Package
  • Salary: The starting salary will range from £49,000 - £51,000.
  • Pension: Civil Service ALPHA (CARE) pension included (28.97% employer’s contribution).
  • Annual leave: 28 days + bank holidays (rising to 33 days after 5 years service).
