Job Summary: The NDES (Network and Digital Investigations Service) is part of the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London command. This role supports TIDE (Technical Innovation and Development Environment) within the Video and Electronics Labs, focusing on emerging digital technologies while complying with forensic science regulator (FSR) and ISO standards. The successful candidate will work with officers and staff on local and national workloads, requiring a strong technical background and moderate to advanced computer knowledge, including system architecture and connectivity.
Key Tasks:
- Forensic imaging and data extraction from digital devices (mobile, computer, storage media) to support CCTV/Video and Electronics Lab work.
- Support non‑technical staff and police officers in operating digital forensic systems.
- Collaborate with the Quality Management team to maintain accreditation standards.
- Quality‑assure and peer‑review forensic examinations.
- Provide evidence‑viewing capabilities for investigating officers.
- Respond to technical queries from non‑technical staff and officers.
- Attend court as a witness of fact.
Essential Requirements:
- Numeracy skills and strong attention to detail, organisational and management capabilities.
- Excellent computer skills; knowledge of modern digital technologies, especially forensic opportunities.
