The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) Business Engagement Unit (BEU) is a dedicated team with a national responsibility to engage with business and industry. They provide approved and authoritative Counter Terrorism (CT) advice and guidance to business, industry, local government and specific sectors, communities and organisations to reduce the risk of terrorism.
The post holder will work within the NaCTSO Business Engagement Unit (BEU). The role includes liaison with the team, wider NaCTSO team, regional CT network and industry across the UK. The Support Officer will manage appointments, complete administrative tasks for events, take meeting minutes and provide general support for the team’s daily administrative needs. The role will also support functions of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) and the ProtectUK Information Sharing Platform regarding events and new products that this team will produce.
Key Responsibilities and Skills- Coordinate and support meetings, events and training opportunities for the team
- Arrange meetings and take minutes
- Provide a range of supporting tasks to aid delivery of business engagement to the private sector
- Deal with telephone and email enquiries
- Record keeping and handling sensitive material
- Act as meeting secretary for the team
- Manage contact lists for the Business Information Exchange and Business Independent Advisory Group
- Liaise with event venue managers regarding building access and on‑day facilitation, accommodation, etc.
- Manage catering requirements for courses, including ACT Corporate events
- Carry out NaCTSO general office responsibilities as required
- Undertake other tasks as directed
- Support project work regarding the Information Sharing Platform (supplementary)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; support a small HQ team and liaise with a national network of CT Security Advisors, Awareness Advisors and industry partners
- Ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Competent IT skills, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Prepared for occasional national travel to support events and meetings
- No external posts or business interests that might conflict with confidentiality or integrity requirements of the role
- Ready to sign a binding confidentiality agreement relating to knowledge gained during performance of duties
- Understanding of Protective Security
- Previous experience of the CT environment or administrative experience across a commercial function
- Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering administrative and operational support within a commercial environment or similar
- Competence in administration of survey applications (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Slido)
This post requires access to highly sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before beginning employment; a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required. The role requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC). As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a limited number of countries. Additional security checks may be undertaken as part of the recruitment process.
