Salary: £51,395 per annum (basic £45,986 + allowances £3,009, including £2,009 location allowance, £1,000 non‑pensionable, £2,400 market).
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of accredited Financial Investigators.
- Supervise confiscation and civil recovery investigations in accordance with POCA.
- Assess and manage risk across all Payback referrals, identifying viable investigative opportunities.
- Allocate investigations, ensuring regular structured supervision and review.
- Develop effective asset recovery strategies to maximise disruption and performance.
- Manage team workloads, ensuring statutory and court deadlines are met, while progressing or closing cases appropriately.
- Maintain personal POCC accreditations (FIO/FI/Confiscation/CRISP).
- Progress own POCA investigations, preparing relevant orders, statements and court documentation.
- Conduct and supervise confiscation and restraint investigations, including preparation of S16 and S41 statements.
- Present evidence and make applications in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.
- Act as a POCA tutor and support staff learning, accreditation and CPD.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policy, and recognised best practice.
- Provide expert advice to BCU operational teams on asset recovery matters.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with CPS, HMRC, NCA and wider partner agencies, working collaboratively with other Payback Supervisors to ensure consistent performance across all Payback Units.
- Promote staff wellbeing and foster a supportive, inclusive working environment.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of Professional Development Portfolios (PDPs).
- Review requests for Market Related Payment for eligible staff ensuring criteria are met.
- Act as point of contact for issues relating to non‑compliance with the Joint Asset Recovery Database (JARD).
- In depth knowledge and experience in leading POCA investigations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to identify and manage risk within complex investigations.
- Experience presenting evidence and managing court processes in criminal and civil cases.
- Knowledge of CPIA disclosure requirements.
- Ability to analyse large volumes of information and make sound judgements.
- Exceptional attention to detail.

- Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to manage competing deadlines under pressure.
