Job Title: Commercial Consultant - Commercial Digital and Innovation - Solution Delivery

Salary: The starting salary is £48,995, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.

The salary is broken down as £45,986 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £54,863 Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The Commercial Services Solution Delivery Digital and Innovation team supports a broad portfolio of technology and digital activity across the commercial lifecycle. The MPS spends around £400 million annually on suppliers delivering critical technology, data, digital and operational capabilities that help keep London safe.

We are looking for a Commercial Consultant to join our Commercial Services Digital and Innovation Team. This is an opportunity to accelerate your commercial career whilst supporting technology, data and digital programmes that contribute to frontline policing helping keep London safe.

You will work with experienced commercial professionals, operational leaders, technology specialists and key suppliers to shape commercial strategies, deliver procurements and achieve value for money. The role offers exposure to complex commercial challenges, senior stakeholders and emerging areas such as digital transformation, data analytics, operational technology, AI-enabled solutions and enterprise platforms.

Role Description

The work is varied and purposeful. You will contribute to technology category strategies, use data and market insight to assess options, support the translation of business needs into sourcing requirements, conduct competitive procurements using public sector frameworks from early market engagement to contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• You will support a diverse range of technology and digital programmes, helping teams engage with the market, understand supplier capability, develop procurement strategies and source solutions via compliant and relevant public sector routes. These projects may include artificial intelligence, cloud and hosting, digital investigations platforms, enterprise software and managed services;
• Support the development of a technology pipeline and category strategies informed by business priorities, market intelligence and supplier insight, and partner with technology stakeholders to understand requirements
• Use data and market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost optimisation, service improvement and risk reduction.
• Contribute to business cases and investment decisions by providing commercial insight, risk analysis and value for money assessments.
• Conduct a range of procurements in collaboration with stakeholders using compliant public sector routes to market from early market engagement to contract award
• Build productive relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

Selection Criteria

• Experience of working with stakeholders in a procurement, category management, business analysis, digital transformation or consulting environment where evidence of cost savings and value for money efficiencies can be demonstrated
• Experience of leading and delivering end to end low to medium value sourcing competitive tenders and supporting the procurement of complex high value procurements, across a range of public sector routes to market, with good understanding and application of public sector procurement legislation
• Ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload while balancing both operationally urgent and important tasks to deliver to deadlines, aligned with project management capabilities gained through practical professional experience.
• Experience of effectively communicating with a range of stakeholders, projecting personal impact and credibility, and demonstrating an ability to listen, adapt, influence and persuade.
• Ability to generate effective solutions to resolve problems.
