The starting salary is £45,207.75, which includes allowances totalling £3,009 and a 12.5% shift allowance.

The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, increasing annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141.

Additionally, there is a 12.5% shift allowance, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non‑pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This role operates on a structured four‑week shift pattern, requiring staff to work one full weekend during the cycle (Tuesday‑Monday), one late‑shift week (2pm–10pm) per cycle, and one day of home working per week (≈20% remote) subject to operational requirements.

Role Summary

The Public Order Crime Team (POCT) provides investigative support to high‑profile and high‑risk operations in London.

As a Civilian Investigator you will progress serious and complex investigations from first report to conclusion, gathering and managing evidence, obtaining accounts, completing key enquiries, and maintaining high‑quality case files to support positive investigative outcomes.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of investigative standards (PIP1 minimum) and relevant legislation relating to public order and criminal investigations.
  • Ability to interview suspects and witnesses in line with legislative requirements.
  • Communication skills to present evidence clearly and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Organisational skills to manage large and complex caseloads.
  • Knowledge of and experience of PIP2 investigations.
  • Knowledge of case file build.
  • Recent operational experience.
  • Experience of CPIA disclosure.
  • Hold a current DVLA driving license and a capability to drive a police vehicle.
