Salary: The starting salary is £40,519, which includes allowances totalling £3,009. The salary is broken down as £37,510 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £40,141. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: London & Hybrid (60% / 3-days per week in office). The 'home base' Met location for this role is Newlands Park (SE26 5NF). We offer the flexibility to work in a Hybrid way, where you can deliver your best, including Working from Home (WFH). Travel across the Met Estate, to attend meetings as required by the business, is expected.

Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (36-hours per week).

Job Purpose: The CONNECT User Access Specialist supports the accurate management of user access, permissions and Organisational Alignment within CONNECT, helping officers and staff access the systems, information and workflows required for operational policing. The role uses data accuracy, analysis, problem solving and stakeholder communication to investigate access, mapping and configuration issues, support-controlled system changes and reduce the risk of disruption to operational users.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate CONNECT user access and permissions, ensuring changes reflect agreed Organisational Alignment requirements, security processes and operational need.
• Extract, check and interpret PSOP workforce and organisational data to support accurate CONNECT access, permissions and Organisational Alignment maintenance.
• Support the investigation of user access, Organisational Alignment and mapping issues, using available guidance and data analysis to identify causes and support timely resolution.
• Assess proposed organisational, geographical, ward, unit table, process mapping and permission changes, identifying impacts on access arrangements, reporting requirements and operational users.
• Coordinate assigned user access and Organisational Alignment change tasks, tracking actions, dependencies, deadlines and risks to support safe implementation.
• Prepare, complete and quality assure test scenarios and test scripts for user access, Organisational Alignment and configuration changes, ensuring evidence is available to support deployment decisions.
• Undertake pre-deployment and post-change quality assurance checks, identifying errors or unexpected outcomes to reduce the risk of operational disruption.
• Prepare and contribute information for Change Requests, including access impacts, testing evidence, implementation considerations and risks to support governance decision-making.
• Use data checking and automation tools, including Microsoft Excel, Power Query or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) where appropriate, to improve accuracy, reduce manual processing and support quality assurance.
• Maintain user access guidance, process notes, lessons learned and best practice documentation to support consistency, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Engage with operational users, CONNECT teams, System Administration, Configuration, Service Desk and other stakeholders to support timely resolution of incidents, requests and planned changes.

Additional Information: Vetting Clearance: This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.

Working Pattern: The role requires that you attend the Newlands Park office (SE26 5NF) 3-days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the core hours of 10:00 to 16:00. You will be expected to work from a Met location for at least three days a week (60% of working time) to support our operational teams and collaborate effectively. For up to two days per week (no more than 40% of working time), you may be permitted to work from home, balancing flexibility with organisational need.

• Experience working in an environment where confidentiality, compliance, data accuracy or information security is important.
• Experience managing assigned tasks and deadlines with limited supervision.

Desirable Criteria:

• Ability to use Microsoft Excel to organise, check and analyse information, including filters, formulas, lookups or pivot tables.
• Ability to learn specialist systems, processes and terminology, including Organisational Alignment concepts, and apply this knowledge accurately.
• Knowledge of MPS systems and organisational structures.
