Overview
In this role you will originate, underwrite, close and manage commercial real estate loan opportunities to support MetLife Investment Management’s lending platform. You will work with regional teams to source deals, evaluate risk, and guide loan transactions through closing while mentoring junior colleagues. The position emphasizes building external market relationships and delivering value across multi-asset real estate lending. You’ll operate in a collaborative, hybrid setting with a focus on performance and prudent risk management.

Responsibilities
- Originate and manage CRE loan investments across Northeastern US
- Develop and maintain external market relationships with brokers, developers, and investors
- Solicit opportunities and present MetLife lending parameters
- Underwrite loan requests, evaluating collateral, sponsorship, risk, and structure
- Prepare memoranda and present to investment committees for approval
- Coordinate closing with a cross-functional team including attorneys and appraisers
- Monitor portfolio performance, valuations, inspections, and loan modifications
- Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development
- Fulfill loan portfolio reporting and collaborate with Debt Strategies Group
Key requirements
- 10+ years of experience originating commercial mortgage loan assets
- Strong network with regional market participants (brokers, borrowers, bankers, developers, operators)
- Understanding of major CRE asset classes
- Strong credit skills and ability to price risk
- Credible presenting to Investment Committee
- Ability to develop profitable investment strategies and lead initiatives
- Strong marketing and negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
- Familiarity with AI platforms to enhance workflow
