We’re Metroline Manchester, the newest addition to the Bee Network, buzzing in Greater Manchester since January 2025! We now operate over 200 routes on behalf of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) from Hyde Road (Head Office), Tameside, Sharston and Wythenshawe depots.
Job Summary

Salary ÂŁ47,127 (ÂŁ23.85 per hour Mon-Fri, ÂŁ32.36 per hour Sat-Sun)
As an integral member of the Metroline Manchester Engineering Team you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and collaborating with other mechanics and engineering specialists across the business. The primary responsibility as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic is to inspect, diagnose and maintain vehicles to the highest standard to achieve maximum vehicle availability. You are responsible for working in a safe manner as stated in current legislation and ELBG policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- To carry out mechanical, electrical and minor body repairs.
- To road test on completion of repair.
- To ensure that the needs of the Operating Department are met and that enough vehicles are available to meet PVR.
- To ensure that all vehicles provided for operation comply with the standards set by the company.
- To ensure that all appropriate documentation and records are maintained accurately in order to satisfy the requirements of the Department of Transport Operators licence and company policies and procedures.
- To work in accordance with safe working practices as stated in Health and Safety policy and procedures.
- To train / mentor apprentices and new recruits.
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by senior management that lies within the scope of the jobholder’s responsibilities.

Knowledge and previous experience of vehicle bodywork repairs and maintenance procedures, ideally on HGV, PCV or Buses.
Ability to read and understand complex technical instructions in maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical service publications.
Awareness and understanding of risk assessment, Health and Safety practices and Department of Transport standards.
An understanding of the standards required by VOSA and the Department of Transport.
Basic bus bodywork.
The post holder should have the ability to gain a PCV licence.
Hours of Work
Permanent Contract – basic 38 hours per week.
