Metroline Manchester is a recently formed subsidiary of ComfortDelGro, in March 2024 we were awarded contracts to operate four franchises and join the Bee Network in Greater Manchester by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). Metroline was formed in 1989, fourth largest bus operator in London running about 17 percent of the city’s scheduled bus services and has been a part of the largest private land transport company Comfort Del Gro since 2000. Job Summary
We’re looking for a Scheduler to plan, review and develop efficient timetables for local bus routes that meet the franchise and service delivery requirements. Taking into account safety, reliability, acceptability and cost. We are looking for someone who has a passion for providing excellent customer service within our local Manchester communities, making the journeys to our customers’ favourite places and people an enjoyable experience.
Responsibilities
- As a Scheduler you will work with the Service Delivery Team and Depot Management Team to introduce temporary schedules to minimise delays through long-term disruption such as road works.
- To provide information / data regarding schedules as required including reporting on service change impacts to internal and external partners.
- As a Schedules Compiler constantly strive to improve driver / vehicle schedule efficiency and service punctuality.
- To maintain a full knowledge of the Domestic Drivers Hours regulations (where different from the Company Scheduling Agreement) and European Drivers Hours Regulations.
- Scheduler to maintain a full knowledge of the Company’s operating area, particularly with regard to Depots and relief point locations.
About you
- Must have experience in a similar role using computer-based scheduling software. (Experience of Hastus Scheduling software – desirable).
- Good understanding of financial and costing procedures required.
- Must have knowledge of the Domestic Driving Hours Regulations.
- Comprehensive geographical knowledge of Greater Manchester (desirable)
- Flexibility to adjust to ever changing industry demands and resilience in working under pressure.
- Must be able to demonstrate credibility to build professional relationships with both employees and managers, and external stakeholders including the Trade Unions.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a natural flair of providing support and guidance and going ‘the extra mile’.

Hours of Work
Contracted 38 hours per week. Flexibility required for hours/days worked (including weekends) in line with operational requirements.
