The Workshop Supervisor reports directly to the Workshop Manager and will be responsible for providing engineering support to his team. This role encompasses all engineering-related duties to ensure the garage operates smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. They will support their shift engineers and provide guidance in making sound decisions that minimise mechanical lost mileage.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the team planning and prioritising work and delegating tasks.
- Identify and order spare parts, ensuring delegated tasks can be completed.
- Oversee the team to ensure efficient workflow management.
- Oversee the team to ensure quality and high-repair standards.
- Oversee the team to ensure that repair procedures are followed.
- Carry out quality checks and record them in the appropriate location.
- Ensure the team understand technical bulletins and the use of diagnostic equipment.
- Check and manage workshop equipment and tools in line with repair procedures.
- Oversee the team to ensure engineering hygiene and cleanliness.
- Act as the first-line Supervisor between engineers and the Workshop Manager.
- Notify the Workshop Manager of any additional faults or necessary repairs.
- Escalate technical issues to the workshop manager as appropriate.
- Promote and supervise SHEQ.
- Complete all paperwork/Digital content in line with legal requirements.
- Attend internal and external training sessions as required.
- Foster productive working relationships with our customers.
- Be prepared to take a hands-on approach when required.
Essential Criteria
- NVQ3 or equivalent in relevant trade discipline.
- Understanding of O Licence requirement.
- Experience of mandatory, legal paperwork associated with bus operations in the London environment.
