At Metro Bank, we believe the best banking experience starts with people who genuinely care. We’re not just delivering banking services - we’re building trust through authentic connections. Here, our people come first; our colleagues are part of a team that values individuality, collaboration, and long-standing relationships. We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.
What you will do:
• Oversee a third party spend portfolio in excess of £250m across all categories, with accountability for commercial outcomes, cost governance and supplier value
• Own the Bank’s Procurement and Supplier Commercial Management (SCM) frameworks, standards, systems & processes, continuously developing the function to increase value, improve ROI and strengthen commercial governance
• Lead, coach and develop a team of Procurement and Supplier Commercial Management professionals, ensuring delivery of objectives aligned to the Bank’s strategy
• Lead complex, high-value procurement processes from strategy through to award, negotiating commercially robust deals that deliver value, manage risk and support the Bank’s strategic priorities
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the Bank including CEO, ExCo and Senior Leadership Teams, to ensure the delivery of demanding commercial targets
• Be responsible for all MI and reporting of team activities, operating and enforcing the Bank’s cost governance processes
• Embed the culture of cost/investment management into the Bank, alongside overseeing development of budgets in consultation with ExCo and Senior Leadership Teams
• Ensure all supplier spend is forecast & tracked and that cost drivers are clearly understood and managed
• Act as the commercial relationship lead for the Bank’s supplier base - a senior point of relationship and escalation
• Ensure regular governance and commercial reviews take place with suppliers - to manage performance, control & optimise costs, negotiate pricing and manage change
• Be accountable for delivery of contract renewals, re-tenders and new contracts as part of contract lifecycle management (both on-boarding and off-boarding)
• Ensure supplier contracts are actively managed - including performance, compliance, SLAs, change & variations
And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns.
