This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position is starting at 16.60, which is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, education and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether it is the starting wage or higher, will be within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will support pharmacists operationally in providing dispensary and pharmacy services and achieving Company initiatives. You will receive direction from the pharmacist on duty and the Pharmacy Manager, working towards the achievement of goals and objectives while adhering to both Company operating standards and Ontario College of Pharmacists' standards of practice. What You’ll Do:

  • Perform all aspects of the technical act of dispensing.
  • Receive prescription refill requests and verbal prescriptions in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain patient profiles, and scan and file patient records.
  • Contact prescribers for various functions.
  • Answer phones and check IVR voicemail messages.
  • Provide customer assistance with merchandise on the sales floor and at the cash register.
  • Check emails and respond accordingly.
  • Receive orders and ensure product received matches invoices and is received in good condition, and then is stored/put away appropriately.
  • Perform inventory-related tasks.
  • Enter and reconcile invoices/credits and maintain shrink logs.
  • Utilise wholesaler websites for various functions.
  • Assist with dispensary paperwork as directed.
  • Maintain store standards and conditions and may be assigned to clean dispensary, sweep floor, and clean shelves as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist.
  • Follow all applicable Company policies and procedures, Government regulations, Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education – Pharmacy Assistant program.
  • Experience - Minimum of 2 years in retail pharmacy.
  • Proficient with current PC systems, MS Office programs and pharmacy software (Kroll).
  • Interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships and positive work environment.
  • Language skills to communicate clearly and listen carefully in a respectful manner.
  • Organisational skills to prioritise, plan ahead, manage time and be punctual.
  • Customer service skills to achieve customer satisfaction by recognising customer needs/wants.
  • Receptive to constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Initiative to identify and complete tasks independently.
