We're looking for a Database Administrator (Technical Solutions) to join our high-performing team based at our Birmingham Business Park HQ. We are seeking an individual who has a wide skill set covering Database Administration, Database Architecture, Database Infrastructure, Data Engineering and Microsoft Fabric. The role is pivotal in delivering our data and IT strategy and an excellent opportunity for an individual to design, build and improve our existing capabilities with the mindset to constantly strive for delivering industry best practices. Applicant must have a confident and enthusiastic attitude, be willing to push the boundaries and develop innovative and best of breed solutions to contribute to our continued success.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of our Data and Technology team, you'll be contributing to data and database solutions both independently and as part of the wider development function delivering optimisation, security, and reliability of our database systems. Your role will include:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances in various environments.
- Design and implement database structures to meet application and business requirements.
- Collaborate with data and technology team to ensure optimal database performance.
- Handling common DBA tasks such as upgrades, backup, recovery, migrations etc.
- Supporting the test/live system, understanding all elements of our technology platform and infrastructure, not just the databases.
- Building solutions from scratch and enhancing existing technologies.
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
- Capacity planning and optimisation (performance & cost) of existing and new database infrastructure.
What You'll Bring
You'll need:
- Deep understanding of Azure, SQL Server HA and DR and related technologies.
- A sharp eye for detail and understanding of its commercial impact.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning strategies and goals.
- Experience working with MS-SQL and T-SQL from SQL 2016/2019.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS 2012R2-2019.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, creating and maintaining pipelines.
- A good understanding of Fact and Dimension Tables.
- Experience with configuration management.
- Experience with migrating from on-premises to private and public clouds.
- Understanding of the Medallion Lakehouse Architecture.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate AND Fabric Analytics or Fabric Data Engineer.
