About the Role

We have an opportunity for a dynamic and driven Asset Engineering Technician to be part of our Systems and Infrastructure Response Team within Engineering and Maintenance Delivery. This role will see you being the first in line in corrective maintenance and asset/system recovery across the Metro Network. You will be responsible for attending to asset failures and network incidents to ensure the safe and continued operation of the Metro Network. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Sydenham site as their Home Depot on completion of MTS induction and onboarding at Tallawong.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective and reactive maintenance activities on MTS Assets.
  • Attend to failures and incidents across the network.
  • Undertake fault finding activities to diagnose and troubleshoot faults and failures for network assets.
  • Provide first-hand information and technical recommendations to Systems and Infrastructure Response Team Leader and the Operational Control Centre team on asset condition.
  • Perform isolations, reinstatements and re-configuration of energy systems.
  • Undertake inspections, testing and other preventative maintenance activities.
  • Supervise and act as an onsite contact for MTS suppliers and subcontractors where required to ensure work completed safely and to minimise/prevent impact to MTS operations.
  • Escort MTS suppliers and visitors onsite.
  • Maintain condition tools and equipment.
  • Assist with the collection, replenishment/delivery of consumables, equipment/parts for work vehicles and satellite warehouses/stores.
  • Support in the continuous development, review, recommendation and implementation of operational and safety improvements and safe working.
  • Support, mentor, and coach other team members as required or as directed.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use of Asset Information Systems to ensure Preventative and Corrective maintenance information is captured effectively and accurately.
  • Perform Protection Officer duties when required, including during incidents, as well as during revenue service or non-traffic hours as directed.

You Will Also Possess The Following

  • Certificate III in one of the following engineering disciplines or related qualifications deemed to be equivalent: Electrical, Mechanical, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or Electronics/Communications.
  • Experience in one or more of the following asset systems: Railway systems/Rolling Stock, Electrical, Building and Tunnel Services, Track, Civil or Structures, Communications and Control and/or Signalling.
