We are looking for an experienced Compliance Advisor to join an exciting new project based in Ipswich. The person in this role will be accountable for establishing, maintaining and continuously improving the quality, environmental, occupational risk and compliance frameworks across the whole project. The role holds management authority to assure safe, compliant and right‑first‑time operations, ensuring alignment to statutory obligations, customer requirements and certified management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The position acts as a key interface with the customer and regulatory stakeholders, providing independent assurance, constructive challenge and formal escalation where standards or controls are at risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and maintain accredited management systems across all Metro Managed Sizewell C logistics locations, ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Act as the authority for quality, environmental and occupational risk matters, with the ability to intervene, challenge and escalate where operational controls or compliance are compromised.
  • Ensure operations align with all applicable statutory, regulatory and customer requirements, including those associated with operating in a nuclear‑adjacent supply chain.
  • Embed a strong culture of compliance, risk awareness, procedural discipline and continuous improvement across operations.
  • Provide oversight and assurance through structured audits, inspections, performance reviews and evidence‑based reporting.
  • Work directly with the customer and external stakeholders (including regulators, certification bodies and approved partners) to demonstrate compliance, transparency and operational control.
  • Identify, assess and manage operational, environmental and occupational risk, ensuring appropriate controls, mitigations and escalation pathways are in place.
  • Approve, challenge and, where necessary, halt activities that do not meet defined standards, escalating through agreed governance channels.
  • Ensure effective management of non‑conformances, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance‑related training requirements, ensuring operational teams are competent and appropriately authorised.
  • Maintain accurate records, dashboards and formal reports to support internal governance, customer assurance and certification requirements.
  • Support senior operations management in embedding safe systems of work, disciplined execution and right‑first‑time behaviours.
  • Maintain strong awareness of evolving legislation, standards and industry best practice relevant to regulated logistics operations.
  • Provide technical and professional advice across the project.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable experience in a regulated logistics, warehousing or operational environment.
  • Proven experience managing accredited management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
  • Experience leading internal and external audits, managing certification bodies and regulatory interfaces.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, authority and confidence to challenge operations where compliance or risk controls are inadequate.
  • Experience operating in customer‑facing roles within complex, high‑assurance environments.
  • Experienced in Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Effective people management skills to enable a high-performance team culture.
  • Desirable: Experience working across multiple sites and international locations.
  • Desirable: Understanding of nuclear or other highly regulated supply chains.

  • Lead the journey to our certification standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Quality, compliance and assurance KPIs consistently achieved across the project.
  • Effective management and timely closure of non‑conformances and corrective actions.
  • Demonstrable improvement in compliance maturity, audit outcomes and customer confidence.
  • Positive contribution to operational performance, risk reduction and workforce wellbeing.
  • Consistently meets or exceeds daily operations KPIs for pick accuracy, quality, damages and safety.
  • Positively influences performance of others to achieve team operational KPIs.
  • Provides proactive, accurate, fact-based feedback regarding team member performance, as needed.
  • Team Briefing Meetings: consistently and actively participates raising team members concerns in a proactive and professional manner, takes the lead for specific topics.
