We’re seeking experienced Warehouse Operatives to come join a new team working within an exciting environment! The role is beyond the normal picking and packing – Ops will be involved in quality assurance, logistics operations, and building processes as one of the founding members of this new team. It is essential that candidates have previous experience within warehousing or factory environments.
You’ll be working within a high-security environment, where professionalism and discretion are essential. All colleagues joining this team will be required to complete enhanced security vetting as part of the onboarding process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Within the role, the following are the kinds of tasks and responsibilities that will be included:
- Organise tasks in a safe and orderly manner.
- Work at a timely pace to ensure each task is completed in order to meet the client’s requirements.
- Keep the warehouse tidy and organised.
- Assist in other areas of business as required.
- Support other members of staff in the operation.
- Operate MHE safely and effectively according to requirements.
- Unload goods in.
- Check in goods.
- Put away products keeping the warehouse.
- Check orders, ensuring accuracy.
- Pack orders to ensure safety in delivery.
- Load deliveries.
- Undertake any other duties as may be required.
- Complete warehouse documentation as required.
- Report all damages, breakages, issues and H&S near misses or accidents.
- Develop strong relationships with all Metro Supply Chain personnel.
- Be aware of our business goals and support them.
- Maintain good relationships with all customers, suppliers, working efficiently together.
- Communicate with Customers in a positive and professional manner.
- Develop an understanding of the products you are handling.
- Work on own initiative within the deadline as set by the customers’ & business requirements.
- Occasionally may be asked to help support other staff members where their knowledge or skills are more limited.
- Follow work instructions provided, complying with our ISO accredited standards ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.
- Communicate any non-conformances within the ISO accredited management system.
- Raise any upcoming changes which could affect the ISO accredited management system.
- Follow environmental policies and procedures and highlight any risks to personnel or the environment.
- Ensure compliance with legislative bodies and local authorities.
- Without compromise maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Report any hazards in the workplace to management immediately.
- Complete all training provided in a timely manner.
- Follow all laws and policies applicable.
- As a team member, work collaboratively with Metro employees in a team-oriented environment.
- Have an exceptional customer service attitude.
- Look for ways to say “Yes” to the customer (internal and external).
- Promote and support social initiatives driven by other team members.
- Follow established processes and, where applicable, help achieve customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Bring a continuous commitment to your quality of work.

Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for someone with existing warehouse or relevant experience only. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience working to high health, safety and compliance standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:As someone who has experience in warehouses or factories, candidates should have knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and have an MHE licence (for example, forklift). Communication is important within this role, so a good level of English, both spoken and written is essential. Being able to work well within a diverse team is essential. It would be great if candidates had qualifications such as IOSH, first aid and fire marshalling, but these aren’t mandatory.
