We’re seeking an Inventory Manager to join Metro Supply Chain within an exciting project. The Inventory Manager leads the planning and forecasting for the site, allowing us to meet the changing needs of our client. Using complex data, they manage, control and support the overall inventory for the customer on site. You’ll be working within a high-security environment, where professionalism and discretion are essential. All colleagues joining this team will be required to complete enhanced security vetting as part of the onboarding process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and maintain customer forecast.
- Engage with customers and provide monthly rolling forecast to support the daily operation.
- Track actual volumes versus forecast.
- Ensure resource planning tool is maintained and aligned to contractual costs.
- Implement a peak planning model across the two sites.
- Produce monthly reporting on planned versus actual volumes / labour and cost flex models.
- Maintain and manage detailed inbound booking schedule.
- Support operational functions with planning or inbound and outbound activity.
- Support in managing storage capacities.
- Support standardising processes across all functions.
- Manage customer cycle counting processes.
- Support operations in stock management and queries for all customers.
- Ensure adherence to customer annual stock check.
- Support customer audits and management of visits.
- Work closely with the customer to fully understand their requirements and expectations and act as the senior Metro Supply Chain operational interface.
- Develop, agree, and manage the operations with respect to customer and company objectives via sound KPIs.
- Understand our customers’ issues and drive business improvements to aid resolution.
- Plan future capacity requirements.
- Optimise the utilisation of all assets across the operations.
- Ensure stock control systems are kept up to date and ensure inventories are accurate.
- Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Work with General Manager and operations managers to ensure H&S management best practice is applied, and investigations and corrective actions are applied rigorously.
- Support development of WMS throughout the operations.
- Identify, analyse and implement operational developments and improvements.
- Report any Health and Safety issues (accidents / near misses) as required.
- Develop relationships throughout the business to create a larger team that will assist one another.
- Ensure the implementation of company audit schedules.
- Identify areas of risk to the business and develop appropriate contingency plans to reduce the risk to an acceptable level.
- Provide and use regular, as well as ad-hoc, Business & Operational Reporting with supporting analysis to the customers.
- Identify opportunities for and initiate Continuous Improvement projects.
- Work with the managers within the business to identify and optimise the total Supply Chain Solution offering from Metro Supply Chain to the customer.
- Follow work instructions provided, complying with our ISO accredited standards ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.
- Communicate any non-conformances within the ISO accredited management system.
- Raise any upcoming changes which could affect the ISO accredited management system.
- Follow environmental policies and procedures and highlight any risks to personnel or the environment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
This is a heavily data-driven role requiring experience within an operations environment, preferably warehousing or something adjacent to that. Candidates should have strengths in data – being an Excel pro is a must, but additionally candidates may have experience in things like PowerBI, SQL or other data skills. They will understand the nature of systems within a warehouse, particularly Warehouse Management Systems like Blue Yonder. Candidates will need to demonstrate their problem-solving skills and ability to create high-quality solutions that will ensure we meet the demands of our customers on time, every time.
