We are recruiting an experienced and resilient HR professional to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract, based in Llanelli, Wales. This is a varied, hands-on role operating within a unionised environment, where confidence, sound judgement and the ability to constructively challenge are essential. Reporting into the wider HR function, you will provide comprehensive HR advice and support to managers, ensuring company policies, procedures and employment legislation are applied consistently and fairly.
This role requires someone who is comfortable dealing with competing priorities, complex queries and sometimes challenging situations. You will be expected to support managers, uphold best practice, and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including trade union representatives, agencies and external partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice and support to line managers to ensure they understand and effectively implement the Company HR policies and procedures whilst ensuring best practice.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Monitor all HR related shared inboxes and action/escalate as appropriate.
- Be a main point of contact for employment agencies and recruitment queries.
- Lead on the whole recruitment cycle, from job advertisement, selection and interview process.
- Lead on the onboarding of new starters including conducting right to work checks, creation of induction plans and packs for new starters, including arranging training and conducting the HR induction.
- Ensure Metro Supply Chain are compliant with current employment legislation.
- Influence management decisions to comply with best practice.
- Maintain HR files and update HR records both electronically and paper copies.
- Produce contracts, letters, documentation and correspondence.
- Own and maintain the tracking of annual leave and sickness, highlighting patterns of absence.
- Liaise with Finance to ensure correct payments are made.
- Provide accurate and timely management information.
- Administer the new starters and leavers cycles, including onboarding surveys and exit interviews.
- Continually analyse HR metrics to improve business practices.
- Assist with HR projects.
- Lead on occupational health activities and referrals.
- Provide administrative support to formal meetings as and when required.
- Support and act on dissemination of information to managers and colleagues as appropriate.
- Complete ad hoc tasks as requested by management.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure all staff follow work instructions provided, complying with our ISO accredited standards ISO 9001.
- Communicate any non-conformances within the ISO accredited management system.
- Raise any upcoming changes which could affect the ISO accredited management system.
- Follow environmental policies and procedures and highlight any risks to personnel or the environment.
- Ensure compliance with legislative bodies and local authorities.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- CIPD Level 5.
- Experience within similar HR roles, preferably stand-alone.
- Experience within a unionised environment is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
