BEHIND EVERY GREAT ENGINEER IS A BRILLIANT SUPPORT TEAM

When customers have a drainage emergency, engineers are often the people they see.

But behind every successful operation is a team of people supporting customers, colleagues and the continued growth of the business.

That's where you come in.

At Metro Rod, we deal with the jobs most people would rather avoid. Blockages. Flooding. Drainage emergencies. The messy stuff.

And we're very good at it.

Right now, we’re looking for an Office Administrator to join our business.

THE JOB

You’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day operation, answering calls, managing emails and turning our engineers’ job notes into clear customer reports. You’ll also prepare quotations, price up works and follow up outstanding quotes- helping turn “we’ll have a think” into “let’s get it booked”.

Working closely with our Engineers, call centre and customers, you’ll help plan routes, coordinate workloads and keep everyone in the loop. From keeping job records up to date to lending a hand with general office admin, you’ll help keep the wheels turning - even when the phone has other plans for your to-do list!

You'll work closely with colleagues, customers and engineers to help keep the business running smoothly and deliver the great service we're known for.

The work might happen behind a desk, but it's just as important.

Because when there's a problem that needs sorting, you're one of the people helping make sure it gets resolved.

THE PERSON

You’re the sort of person who loves getting things in order and spotting the little details that make a big difference. You’re confident on the phone, clear in your emails and comfortable with figures, computers and learning new systems.

You can crack on independently, but you’re equally happy to muck in with the team. When priorities change, you can reshuffle your list and keep things moving, without losing sight of the customer waiting for an update. With your experience in a similar busy office-based role, you’ll be a positive person who takes pride in doing a job well.

The essentials:

  • Experience in using computer systems such as customer portals/CRM etc
  • Dependable – willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in
  • Customer focus – happy and helpful all the way
  • Good communicator – you’ll be talking to both engineers and customers each day
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

Behind every successful operation is a great team. We think that deserves looking after properly.

  • You’ll get:
  • Company pension
  • 20 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Personal development
  • Opportunity to work within a leading drainage business

WHY METRO ROD?

We've been keeping drains and plumbing flowing for more than 40 years, trusted by some of the biggest names in the UK, including Aldi, McDonald's, Wetherspoons and Mitie.

But a business like ours is only as good as the people behind it.

People who know their stuff. Turn up when it matters. And care about doing a great job. We work hard, back our people and give them the support to build their skills and take their careers further.

Metro Rod is part of the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, alongside Metro Plumb, Willow Pumps and Filta. Together, we provide a one-stop shop for all drainage and plumbing services across the UK.

Every engineer needs a team behind them. Every great team needs great people.

THE BEST PEOPLE COME FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE

At Metro Rod, we’re interested in what you can bring to the job. We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified people, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
