Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and its sister company Metro Plumb provide drain clearance and maintenance services across the UK. We serve a range of commercial clients in property, retail, industrial and leisure sectors.
What does it entail?
- Work on client sites performing general electrical and mechanical engineering duties to ensure pump systems operate as specified.
- Carry out maintenance, repairs, commissioning and installations of pump stations and associated equipment nationwide.
- Participate in the emergency call‑out rota.
- Work with grey‑water and effluent systems and operate within confined spaces.
- Communicate effectively with the service team, providing reports and photos via PDA and mobile phone.
- Deliver professional, positive service to customers.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
What experience do we look for?
- Proven experience with grey‑water and effluent systems/submersible pumping stations.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- 18th Edition qualification.
- 3–5 years of pump maintenance or similar role.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for centrifugal and submersible sewage pumps.
- Experience lifting, replacing, and installing pumps and pipework.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Ability to work remotely and on the emergency call‑out rota.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
