The role:
We’re looking for an experienced drainage professional to join our business as Technical Manager.
This is a varied and hands-on role supporting both our office team and field engineers with the day-to-day technical delivery of commercial drainage works. You’ll review CCTV surveys, provide practical guidance to engineers, attend sites to assess requirements and oversee works through to successful completion.
You’ll also meet clients and engineers on site, identify the right technical solution and prepare accurate quotations for recommended works.
This isn’t a purely office-based management role. You’ll remain closely involved with engineers, customers and live projects, helping us maintain high standards of safety, quality and customer service across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing day-to-day technical support to the office team and field engineers
- Reviewing CCTV drainage footage, surveys and reports
- Ensuring survey findings and recommendations are accurate and clearly presented
- Attending commercial sites to assess drainage issues and scope required works
- Meeting clients to discuss findings, requirements and recommended solutions
- Preparing accurate, detailed and commercially sound quotations
- Planning the appropriate labour, equipment and methods for each job
- Overseeing complex, specialist or high-value works on site
- Supporting engineers with fault diagnosis and practical technical guidance
- Monitoring work quality, progress and compliance with agreed specifications
- Ensuring works are completed safely and in line with industry standards
- Helping to resolve operational and technical issues quickly and effectively
- Supporting the development and technical capability of the engineering team
- Working closely with the management team to improve service delivery and operational performance
What Do We Look For?
We’re looking for someone with broad, practical experience in commercial drainage who understands what good looks like both on site and behind the scenes.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have significant experience within the commercial drainage industry
- Have strong knowledge of reactive drainage, planned maintenance and remedial works
- Be experienced in CCTV drainage surveying and confident reviewing footage and reports
- Understand electro-mechanical cleaning equipment, lining works and drainage repairs
- Have experience surveying, pricing and quoting drainage works
- Be confident assessing jobs and recommending the most appropriate solution
- Be capable of overseeing works and supporting engineers on site
- Communicate technical information clearly to clients, engineers and office colleagues
- Have strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Be organised, solutions-focused and able to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety, quality and customer service
- Hold a full UK driving licence
This role would suit an experienced Technical Manager, Drainage Supervisor or highly skilled commercial Drainage Engineer ready to take the next step while remaining actively involved in operational delivery.
