We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Video Technician Lead to join our growing team.
THE ROLE:
The role of Video Lead is pivotal in ensuring the seamless delivery of successful events through expert technical planning, meticulous system operation, and strategic team leadership. This position serves as a linchpin between Creative, Production, Scenic, and Technical teams, orchestrating sophisticated video solutions tailored to each event’s unique requirements. By maintaining cutting-edge equipment and implementing cost-effective, innovative solutions, this role is instrumental in creating immersive and flawless event experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical Planning & System Design: You will work closely with the Creative, Production, Scenic, and Technical teams to design and implement video solutions for events. This involves creating technical specifications and advising on cost-effective solutions.
- System Operation & Troubleshooting: Leading the preparation, setup, and operation of advanced video systems, ensuring all equipment is correctly configured and optimised for seamless performance during events or productions.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Providing onsite leadership and supervision to AV technicians to ensure the successful execution of projects. Additionally, offering mentorship and training to junior technicians to support their professional growth and enhance team performance.
- Maintenance & Upkeep: Managing the efficient upkeep of equipment, ensuring it is up to date and functions correctly and safely. Conduct research and testing on new equipment and software to evaluate performance, safety, and potential integration into our stock list.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
- Technical Expertise: Mastery of live production switchers (e.g., Barco, Analog Way, Blackmagic ATEM), advanced video processing and scaling systems (e.g., Barco E2/S3, Analog Way, Disguise), and various media servers (Resolume, PlaybackPro, QLab, Millumin) for content management and delivery.
- Display Technologies: Deep expertise in setting up, configuring, calibrating, and troubleshooting LED walls (various brands and controllers like Novastar, Brompton), along with skilled operation of high-lumen projectors for mapping and blending applications.
- Signal Flow & Distribution: Comprehensive understanding and implementation of all major video signal types (SDI, HDMI, DisplayPort), advanced routing via fiber and emerging IP-based video technologies (NDI, Dante AV), including wireless video transmission and basic audio-for-video integration.
- Camera Operations: Proficiency in broadcast and PTZ camera setup.
- Networking for Video: Foundational knowledge of IP networking, including addressing, subnets, managed switches, and VLANs, specifically applied to video control systems and relevant control protocols like DMX and Art-Net.
- Recording & Streaming: Skill in operating live stream encoders and platforms, and managing multi-track recording for various event needs.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot complex issues independently.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and lead a team.
