This position is located in Bedford Hills, NY in Westchester County. This person oversees all of our natural area management and new natural area installation work. This includes managing existing woodlands, wetlands, meadow areas, and landscapes that are largely made up of these components.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Daily report to our nursery in Bedford Hills, NY
- Technologically inclined with phones, email, and text
- Keeping and organising your team's schedule
- Supervision of crews and subcontractors
- Operation of all equipment
- Completion of job-related paperwork (client communication, daily reports, etc.)
- Developing schedules in conjunction with other teams
- Organising labour, materials, subs, and other job-related items
- Customer relations (consistent clear communication)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Licensed pesticide applicator in NY / CT
- Extensive horticultural and invasive species management knowledge
- Minimum 3 years in a similar leadership role
- Ability to perform all field work that you are supervising (pesticide applications, tractor mounted seeding, etc.)
- Ability to navigate steep slopes on uneven terrain while carrying a backpack weighing +35lbs
- Ability to work and hike for several hours in inclement weather
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Capable in all field identification of native plants and non-native species
- Schedule and communicate clearly with clients and field staff
- Valid driver's license
Additional Information:
Job is located in Bedford Hills, NY, about an hour north of NYC. Daily reporting to the nursery at 6:45am is required. We offer health benefits, 401k matching, paid vacation, and this position is eligible for a vehicle to take home daily depending on commute. We are an ecologically progressive firm and work in a wide range of locations; this can include longer commutes to job sites.
