Gardens of Distinction is looking for a fine gardener to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on various properties and diverse plantings. This role will constantly challenge you to work efficiently while completing detailed horticultural tasks. Working interactively with our team, our goal is to make every day enjoyable while making an impact across New York’s landscape.
Responsibilities/Duties
- This role involves a combination of horticultural expertise, artistic vision, and hands-on gardening skills.
- The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of plant care, plant identification, garden design principles, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of garden aesthetics and plant health.
- Working closely with our team, you will be involved in garden maintenance and installations throughout the season.
- This requires a high attention to detail and actively problem solving from a horticultural standpoint in a variety of landscapes.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Experience as an urban gardener, with a focus on high-end or fine gardening preferred (3+ years of experience).
- Strong knowledge of plant species, plant care, and pest management.
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional eye for detail and a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful and well-structured gardens.
- Ability to adapt to changing conditions and requirements, and to work in varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold).
- A positive attitude amongst colleagues and clients.
- Degree or certification in horticulture, landscape design, or a related field is highly desirable.
Additional Information
- Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications ($25-$31 an hour - 10 month season).
